Prabhas fans will have to wait longer for Fauzi. The highly anticipated period action drama, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, has officially been postponed from its previously announced December 3, 2026 theatrical release.
The postponement was confirmed by producer Y. Ravi Shankar at the pre-release event of Nani’s The Paradise. While the producer confirmed that the film will not arrive on the earlier date, the makers have not announced a new release date yet.
Fauzi Release Postponed
Fauzi was earlier locked for a worldwide theatrical release on December 3, 2026. The release date was officially announced in July along with a new poster featuring Prabhas in an intense, battle-worn look.
However, after several weeks of speculation about a possible delay, the makers have now confirmed the postponement.
Producer Ravi Shankar revealed that the film needs more time before it can reach theatres. The additional time is expected to be used to complete the remaining production and post-production work.
For now, audiences should not treat any specific 2027 date as official. The makers are yet to reveal the new theatrical release date.
Why Was Fauzi Postponed?
The exact production schedule has not been fully disclosed by the makers, but reports have linked the delay to the film’s extensive production and post-production requirements.
Fauzi is being mounted as a large-scale period action drama, and the film’s visual scale requires considerable technical work. Earlier reports had already suggested that the extensive post-production could affect the December release plan.
With the original deadline approaching, the production team has now decided to move the release rather than bring the film to theatres on the previously announced date.
Producer Promises a Massive Prabhas Film
While confirming the postponement, producer Ravi Shankar also spoke positively about the scale of Fauzi.
According to reports from the event, he indicated that audiences have not seen Prabhas in such a grand presentation since Baahubali. He also described Fauzi as a major project that needs additional time to reach the screen in the intended form.
These comments have added another layer of curiosity around the film, especially because the makers have kept several details about the story and characters under wraps.
What Is Fauzi About?
Fauzi is being presented as a period action drama set against a historical backdrop.
Prabhas plays a soldier, while the story is connected to the turbulent period of pre-Independence India. The film’s promotional material has shown Prabhas in a rugged, battle-ready appearance, suggesting that the story will feature war, resistance and large-scale action.
The makers have deliberately revealed limited story information so far. The July release-date poster described the film in terms of courage, honour and freedom, giving audiences a broad indication of its emotional and historical setting.
Hanu Raghavapudi and Prabhas Join Hands
Fauzi marks the collaboration between Prabhas and director Hanu Raghavapudi.
Hanu previously directed Sita Ramam, a romantic drama that received significant attention for its period setting and storytelling. With Fauzi, the filmmaker is moving into a much larger-scale action-oriented world.
The combination of Prabhas’ screen presence and Hanu’s period-film experience has made Fauzi one of the closely watched upcoming Telugu productions.
Who Is in the Fauzi Cast?
Prabhas leads the film, while Imanvi Esmail is the female lead.
The supporting cast includes several established performers, including Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and Jaya Prada. Chaitra J Achar is also part of the cast.
The film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers, with Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar associated with the production.
The technical team includes cinematographer Sudeep Chatterjee, music composer Vishal Chandrashekar and editor Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao.
Is Fauzi Moving to 2027?
Current reports indicate that Fauzi is expected to move to 2027, but the exact release date has not been officially announced.
Some earlier reports had suggested possible 2027 windows, including February or March. However, those dates should currently be treated as reports or speculation, not confirmed release information.
The confirmed update at present is simply that the December 3, 2026 release has been postponed.
Fans will therefore have to wait for Mythri Movie Makers and the team to announce the next release plan.
What Happens to Prabhas’ Release Calendar?
The Fauzi postponement could also affect Prabhas’ wider release schedule.
The actor has multiple major projects in development, and moving one film can create changes in the planned schedule of his other projects. However, any specific changes to those films’ dates should be treated separately unless officially announced by their respective makers.
For Fauzi, the immediate priority appears to be completing the remaining work before locking another theatrical date.
What Can Fans Expect Next?
The next major update is likely to be the announcement of the new release date.
The makers could also begin releasing more promotional material once the new schedule becomes clearer. So far, the promotional campaign has largely relied on posters and limited glimpses rather than revealing the complete story.
The postponement gives the team additional time to complete the film and prepare its next promotional phase.
For fans who were expecting to watch Prabhas on December 3, the wait has therefore become longer. But the film’s new date remains open for now.
