Prabhas’ much-awaited film Spirit Release Date has finally received a new theatrical release date. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the action thriller will now arrive worldwide in cinemas on October 29, 2027, during the Diwali festival period.
The announcement came from Sandeep Reddy Vanga on October 18, 2026, along with a new poster featuring Prabhas. The film was previously scheduled to release on March 5, 2027, meaning the new date pushes the movie nearly eight months ahead.
The new release date has immediately created excitement among Prabhas fans, while also raising the possibility of a major Diwali box-office battle with Ramayana: Part 2.
Spirit Gets October 29, 2027 Release Date
After months of speculation surrounding its release schedule, the makers of Spirit have officially locked October 29, 2027 for the film’s worldwide theatrical release.
The date falls during the Diwali 2027 holiday period, giving the Prabhas-starrer one of the biggest festive windows in the Indian film calendar.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga announced the date through social media, sharing a new Spirit poster and confirming the film’s worldwide theatrical arrival on October 29.
The movie was earlier scheduled for March 5, 2027. That date has now been replaced.

Why Was Spirit’s Release Date Changed?
The makers had earlier announced March 5, 2027 as the theatrical release date.
However, reports began circulating in October that the film could miss its March date. On October 18, Vanga officially ended the speculation by announcing the new Diwali release date.
The latest move places Spirit in a much larger festive window, potentially giving the film access to increased audience footfall during the Diwali holiday period.
The change also means fans will now have to wait longer to see Prabhas in the highly anticipated collaboration with Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Prabhas Plays a Police Officer
One of the biggest attractions of Spirit is Prabhas’ character.
The actor is playing a police officer in the film, with the project being described as a dark cop-action thriller. Reports and promotional material have previously teased a rugged and intense version of the actor.
The film marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Vanga previously directed Arjun Reddy and its Hindi remake Kabir Singh, before delivering the blockbuster Animal in 2023.
With Spirit, the filmmaker is moving into another intense action-driven world.
Triptii Dimri Joins Prabhas
Triptii Dimri is playing the female lead opposite Prabhas.
The actress was officially confirmed for the project after Deepika Padukone’s exit from the film. Vanga subsequently announced Dimri as the new female lead.
The project therefore brings together two of the biggest names currently associated with large-scale Indian cinema.
Apart from Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, the cast also includes Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj in important roles.
What Is Spirit About?
The makers have kept the detailed plot of Spirit largely under wraps.
What is known is that Prabhas plays a police officer and the film is being positioned as a high-intensity cop action drama.
The promotional tagline has also teased the idea of a police officer with “one bad habit,” suggesting that the central character may not be a conventional hero.
With Sandeep Reddy Vanga at the helm, expectations are naturally high for a darker and more intense storytelling style.
However, the complete storyline and character arcs are still being kept secret.
Spirit vs Ramayana Part 2: Big Diwali 2027 Clash?
The biggest talking point surrounding the new release date is the potential competition with Ramayana: Part 2.
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana franchise is also planned for the Diwali 2027 period, with Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash among the major stars associated with the project.
This creates the possibility of one of the biggest Indian movie clashes of 2027.
However, there is an important distinction.
The exact release date of Ramayana: Part 2 has not yet been officially announced.
Therefore, it is too early to say that both films will definitely release on the exact same day.
If both movies remain in the same Diwali window, however, exhibitors and audiences could be looking at a major festive box-office competition.
Why the Diwali Release Could Be Important
Diwali is traditionally one of the strongest theatrical periods for Indian cinema.
A major star vehicle arriving during the festival can benefit from:
- Extended holiday footfall
- Family audiences
- Higher theatrical demand
- Increased show counts
- Stronger opening-day potential
- Multiple-language audience interest
For a pan-India star like Prabhas, the Diwali window could provide Spirit with an opportunity to target audiences across Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam markets.
The film is listed as a multilingual release, with Prabhas and Triptii Dimri leading the cast.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas’ First Collaboration
Spirit is particularly important because it brings Prabhas together with Sandeep Reddy Vanga for the first time.
Vanga became a major force in Indian cinema with Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh. His 2023 film Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, became one of the biggest commercial successes of his career.
Spirit therefore carries expectations not only because of Prabhas’ popularity but also because audiences are curious about what Vanga’s filmmaking style will look like with the Baahubali star.
When Will the Spirit Trailer Release?
There is currently no officially announced trailer release date for Spirit.
The movie still has significant time before its October 2027 theatrical release, so further promotional material is expected closer to the release.
Fans can expect more information about the teaser, trailer, songs and character details as the makers move deeper into the promotional campaign.
What Happens Next for Spirit?
With the release date now locked, attention will shift toward the film’s production and promotional campaign.
The biggest upcoming updates are likely to include:
- New character posters
- First teaser
- Trailer announcement
- Music updates
- Additional cast details
- Promotional events
- Official details about the Diwali release strategy
The exact scale of the Spirit vs Ramayana: Part 2 clash will also become clearer once the latter’s official release date is announced.
Spirit Release Date: Final Update
After previously being scheduled for March 5, 2027, Spirit has now officially moved to October 29, 2027.
The Prabhas and Triptii Dimri starrer will release worldwide during the Diwali 2027 period.
The new date gives the film a major festive platform and potentially sets up a huge box-office contest with Ramayana: Part 2.
For now, one thing is clear: October 29, 2027 is the date Prabhas fans need to mark on their calendars.
